The Casona del bosque de Pumares is a 17th century restored property that is on the market as either a private residence or as a hotel. It closed as a hotel in October 2012 due to the owners retiring. The property has 11 bedrooms which comprise 9 en suite letting bedrooms, a basement en suite apartment, and an owners bedroom. It could also be used as a large family house as it is ideal for entertaining. In addition the the 11 bedrooms it has a thatched grain store, a restored chapel, a barn to restore and a beautiful enclosed courtyard.
Pumares is a tiny hamlet close to Santa Eulalia de Oscos. This is a pretty part of Asturias and is about 40 minutes from the coast. There are lots of walks from the property as well as a spectacular waterfall nearby. A river runs close by and it is possible to fish here for Trout!
The building was restored in 1999 and opened as a hotel. It maintained a lot of the original features such as the doors, the slate floors, the shutters and lots of agricultural relics. There is a very cosy room with a central open fire - very nice in Winter.
The lounge is also very spacious with a galleried breakfast room leading off it. The bedrooms sit on two floors and are all individually decorated. All have en suite bathrooms. There are 6 rooms on the first floor and then 3 in the attic. The ground floor apartment could be used for self catering or for private use. The owner's apartment has its own lounge and bedroom with bathroom.
